Music rooted in tradition often carries more than sound—it carries memory, craft, and continuity. Bent String works within that lineage, focusing on early American roots music shaped by acoustic instruments and historical forms. Led by Kevin T. Richards, the ensemble draws from country blues, traditional jazz, and roots country, keeping these styles present through performance rather than preservation alone.
Bent String is an early American roots music ensemble led by Kevin T. Richards, a master musician recognized by the Ohio Arts Council for his expertise in country blues guitar. With over 40 years of performance experience, Kevin is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin) who brings authentic pre-war acoustic blues, traditional jazz, roots country, and original compositions to life. That background informs a set where instrumentation shifts naturally and songs reflect both tradition and personal interpretation.
At The Sixty6, expect a performance that moves across styles and eras, guided by string instruments and a steady sense of rhythm. The trio setting allows space for each instrument to lead and support in turn—melodies passed between guitar, fiddle, or banjo, with arrangements that feel both structured and open. It’s music that rewards close listening while remaining accessible to anyone in the room.
Free admission, no tickets required.
