Venue + Our Partners
How it all began
Our journey began in 2022 with a series of community meetings at the Dunham Tavern Museum & Gardens, where residents, stakeholders, and partners came together to share their vision for a gathering place that celebrates live music, food, and local culture. Recognizing the importance of this vision, a group of 30 Hough residents embarked on a transformative trip to Memphis to explore the city’s Black cultural corridor. Their visit to the Memphis Collaboratory provided invaluable inspiration, reinforcing our commitment to create a space that nurtures local talent and fosters community connection.
The Sixty6 Music Lounge and Studio

Located in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood, The Sixty6 is designed as a community-driven space where diverse programming allows local artists to perform, record, and connect.

The legacy of live music in hough
Cleveland’s musical heritage is profound, with roots tracing back to the early 19th century. The establishment of iconic institutions like the Cleveland Orchestra in 1918 and the influence of diverse immigrant communities have shaped the city’s dynamic musical landscape. From classical traditions to the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll in the early 1950s, Cleveland has long been a hub of musical innovation.
Historically, the city was home to several important Black-owned and Black-friendly music venues, particularly during the era of segregation. Notable among them was Leo’s Casino, which thrived from 1952 to 1972, providing a platform for legendary jazz, blues, and R&B artists. These venues played a crucial role in Cleveland’s cultural history and helped establish the city as a significant center for music on both national and international stages.
At The Sixty6, we aim to solve the problem of limited spaces for local artists and community gatherings. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment that celebrates local talent and engages residents through live performances, educational programs, and cultural events. By revitalizing the spirit of live music in Hough, we aspire to cultivate a sense of pride and connection within the community, ensuring that the legacy of music continues to thrive.
