Some artists carry a city’s sound with them wherever they go. Wallace Coleman is one of Cleveland’s enduring blues figures—a harmonica player and vocalist whose career spans decades of performance across the U.S. and abroad. Known for his work alongside guitarist Robert Lockwood Jr., Coleman spent years touring and recording within that lineage, helping extend a direct connection to Delta and Chicago blues traditions. His own recordings, including Stretch My Money and Live at the Bop Stop, reflect a style rooted in classic blues structures, with harmonica phrasing that is both restrained and expressive. Recognized with multiple Cleveland Blues Society honors and a long-standing reputation in Northeast Ohio, Coleman’s work continues to anchor the region’s blues community.
